After
receiving dozens of submissions from students all around Western
Europe, the process of selection of the best signature design was
quite difficult - there were so many interesting and inspired entries.
In the first round of the selection process the choice was narrowed
down to a number of finalists whose submissions you can see below.
With the generous help of Mr. Franck Sarfati,
the co-founder of the well known Brussels design studio
[ Sign *],
two entries were selected as the best among the finalists.
The second place entry was by Thierry Lambert Bapfakurera , student at the Faculdade de Belas Artes (Faculty of Fine Arts) at the University of Porto in Portugal. (see image on right)
The winner of the competition is Teemu Karuaho,
student at the Kymenlaakson Ammattikorkeakoulu school (University
of Applied Sciences ) in Kotka, Finland. Our congratulations
to Teemu who will spend a week working to improve and package his
winning design at the [Sign*] studio in Brussels under the tutelage
of Mr. Sarfati. Our thanks goes to Mr. Sarfati for his kind collaboration
on this competition, as well as to Apple
office in Belgium for providing the computer the winner will be
working on at [Sign*].
Teemu will also receive our prize, the Olympus
Digital SLR E-1 Camera Kit, kindly offered by our participating
sponsor Olympus,
at the special event where we are planning to launch the new logo,
as well as the new multilingual UNRIC website. At this event, the
new design created by Teemu with the help of [Sign*] studio will
be unveiled.
We would like to thank all the talented students who participated in this competition and we wish you success with your studies and good luck in future professional development.
